Qualified Domestic Relations Orders

A Qualified Domestic Relations Order ("QDRO") is the last step in transferring a portion of one party's retirement into the name of the other party.  QDRO's require specific attention to Federal Rules including "ERISA." 

If you are in the military, you may hear the term "COAP." Tis is a document similar to a QDRO, but there are additional requirements in order to fulfill the transfer of a military retirement plan.
